Loch Etive

Loch Etive - Landscapes and Lochs
This was taken in late May during the evening. The Glen Etive road ends near the old pier and boathouse. I decided to take a walk south to try and get a shot of the distant Ben Cruachan. I happened to look back and I noticed some promising light and clouds in Glen Etive.

I found these three large boulders and composed the scene for them to act as a lead towards the water and hills in the distance. The colours were a joy to see and air was clear following a few heavy showers earlier.

Unfortunately for me the midges were out in force and I've never experienced a sustained attack quite like it! I would compose a shot, flap, dance around for a few seconds, then run away and quickly return to fire off the shot. This endurance loop was repeated for about 20 minutes before the sun disappeared.
