Traigh Mheilein - Daytime Long Exposure

Traigh Mheilein - Daytime Long Exposure - The Outer Hebrides
November 2012

After enjoying a spectacular drive along the single track road to Huisinis, I parked up and walked to the jetty. From here the southern edge of Traigh Mheilein looked tantalisingly close and I took the path along the cliff side expecting a short walk to reach my destination. 40 minutes later I found myself in awe of this beach, it is a stunning setting. There was not a soul to be seen and the only footprints on the beach were from the local wildlife. I just had a couple of seals for company.

I took a few wide vista shots from the water's edge and also from up in the dunes, but my favourite from this outing is this tighter crop in portrait orientation. I used a long exposure time to emphasise the shape of the shoreline as the waves rolled in. It was a soft light day and this really brought up the gorgeous pastel tones in the shallows.

I can't wait to revisit this beach in the future.
